The problem I could not stop thinking about

I have been a freelance developer for years. Every pricing conversation followed the same pattern: client lowballs, I inflate, we dance around the real number for two weeks, and one of us eventually gives in.

Most of the time we were only a few hundred dollars apart. We just did not know it.

Sealed-bid auctions make honesty the winning move. FairPrice is that, for freelance pricing. Both sides submit a private range. Overlap becomes the midpoint. No overlap, you skip the proposal.
